The vibe check got tougher
AbbVie said Q1 and full-year 2026 EPS are now expected to come in below Wall Street’s hopes. For Q1, the company guided to $2.56 to $2.60 a share versus about $3.01 in consensus. For the full year, it cut the range to $13.96 to $14.16, also shy of the street’s roughly $14.56.
Why investors care
This is one of those updates that doesn’t scream disaster, but it does quietly lower the ceiling. When a pharma giant trims profit guidance, the market usually starts asking the annoying but important question: is this just timing noise, or is the growth story taking a little hit?
Dividend buttered toast, meet the messy kitchen
AbbVie also declared a quarterly dividend of $1.73 per share, or $6.92 annualized, which keeps the income-investor crowd happy. The ex-dividend date is April 15 and payment lands May 15, so the cash machine is still on. But a rich dividend doesn’t magically cancel out softer guidance — it just gives bulls one more thing to point at while they defend the stock.
The bigger picture
The company’s newer drugs are still doing the heavy lifting as Humira fades, but the fresh guidance cut suggests the transition story may need a few more quarters to fully win over skeptics. Big picture: AbbVie still has plenty going for it, but today’s headline is less “smooth sailing” and more “adjusting the cruise route.”
