New faces at the top
Leal Therapeutics just added two more names to the org chart: Johannes Tauscher, M.D. is stepping in as chief medical officer, and Raymond Jordt, M.B.A., M.S. is joining as chief business officer. Translation: the company is shoring up both the clinical brain and the deal-making muscle.
Why you should care
This isn’t just corporate musical chairs. Leal says the hires come as it advances its pipeline, including supportive Phase 1 data for LTX-001 in schizophrenia and a Phase 1/2 trial for LTX-002 in ALS that’s still slated to kick off in 1H 2026.
The pipeline pep talk
A few nuggets from the update:
- LTX-001 has finished the single-ascending-dose part of its Phase 1 study with a favorable safety profile and dose-dependent CNS target engagement.
- The multiple-ascending-dose portion is now underway.
- A Phase 1b/2a schizophrenia trial is expected to start mid-2026, with initial data due by year-end.
- LTX-002, the ALS program, has cleared key preclinical work and is still on track for a 1H 2026 Phase 1/2 launch.
Big picture
For a biotech, exec hires can be the equivalent of putting on a sharper blazer before a big pitch meeting. They don’t prove the science works, but they do suggest Leal is getting ready for the long game: more clinical data, more partnering chatter, and maybe eventually a path toward something investors can actually model.
