Treasury shares? Yep, the trust just sold some
Invesco Global Equity Income Trust plc said it sold 65,000 ordinary shares from treasury at 376.30p per share. Translation: the trust found enough demand to move a small chunk of stock back into the market instead of letting it sit in the vault like a forgotten holiday gift card.
Why you should care
This isn’t a flashy merger or a blockbuster earnings beat. But it does matter for the share count. After the transaction, the company has 122,271,314 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares, and that becomes the new denominator for voting rights and disclosure calculations.
The investor angle
For a trust, treasury share sales are usually about meeting demand and managing the capital structure. If you’re a shareholder, the big thing is less "drama" and more "math" — a slightly larger share base can tweak per-share metrics and the way ownership percentages are calculated.
Big picture: not all market-moving news comes with fireworks. Sometimes it’s just the plumbing quietly doing its job.
