New org chart, same hot hand
Modine just gave its data center business its own seat at the table, creating a separate segment and promoting Art Laszlo to president of the new division, effective April 1. That’s corporate-speak for: “This thing is big enough now that we don’t want it tucked away in the climate-solutions corner anymore.”
Why investors should care
The company said it will start reporting the two segments separately with its first-quarter fiscal 2027 results. Translation: the data center business is getting enough scale, growth, or both to deserve a clearer view on its own. If you’re trying to value Modine, that matters because a fast-growing segment can stop getting buried inside a slower, lumpier one.
The leadership shuffle
Laszlo joined Modine in 2022 and has spent the last few years climbing through senior roles. Before that, he had stops at IDEX, GE, Brunswick, Mars, and GM — basically a résumé that says he knows how to run big industrial operations without making the machines cry.
Eric McGinnis will keep running the rest of Climate Solutions until his planned retirement, so this isn’t a dramatic shake-the-paint-off-the-walls kind of overhaul. But with the stock near its highs and the market cap sitting at $13.55 billion, Modine is making a pretty loud bet that data centers are a major part of its next act.
Big picture: when a company gives a business line its own nameplate and its own boss, it’s usually because that business is no longer a side quest.
