Same-day, but make it less messy
UPS-owned Roadie is linking up with Centiro in a new integration aimed at helping retailers and 3PLs offer same-day delivery without turning their warehouses into a circus. The pitch here is pretty simple: move faster, but don’t blow up the backend.
Why this matters
Same-day delivery is one of those customer perks that sounds magical until you’re the one trying to make it happen at scale. If UPS can make it easier for merchants to plug into that capability, it could mean more volume flowing through its network — and more reasons for customers to keep UPS in the checkout mix.
The investor angle
This isn’t a flashy mega-deal, but it does hint at where UPS wants to play: less beige-box carrier, more tech-enabled logistics platform. That matters when shippers are shopping for speed, flexibility, and fewer operational headaches.
Big picture: the logistics world is still obsessed with getting stuff to your door faster, and UPS clearly doesn’t want to be the guy showing up after the party’s over.
