New boss, new bucket
Modine just handed Art Laszlo the keys to its newly created Data Centers segment, effective April 1. Translation: the company is treating data centers like a grown-up business now, not just a side dish in the broader Climate Solutions buffet.
Why this matters
If you’ve been watching Modine, you know the market has been rewarding the company for its exposure to data-center cooling demand. Separating the segment gives management a cleaner way to run the business — and gives investors a cleaner way to squint at the numbers.
More than a title swap
A few moving parts make this worth your attention:
- Laszlo will run the new segment, which used to live inside Climate Solutions
- Eric McGinnis will keep leading the rest of Climate Solutions until his planned retirement
- Modine said it will start reporting the segments separately with first-quarter fiscal 2027 results
- The Performance Technologies segment is still set to spin off later this calendar year in the previously announced Gentherm transaction
Big picture
This is the corporate version of putting your hottest growth engine in its own room with the thermostat cranked up. Modine is making the data-center business easier to see, easier to manage, and probably easier for Wall Street to get excited about.
