Biogen’s Spinraza upgrade just hit a wall

Biogen was trying to give Spinraza a higher-dose makeover, but the FDA basically said, “Come back when the homework’s done.” The agency declined to approve the regimen and asked for an update to the technical information in the CMC section of the filing.

Biogen is also working with Ionis on salanersen, a next-gen SMA candidate that could eventually make all this drama feel old-school, but that one is still in early-stage testing.
