CEO confidence, meet the checkbook
Exzeo Group CEO Paresh Patel reported buying 2,090 shares of company stock in four trades on April 14, paying between $16.14 and $16.19 a share for a total of about $32,301. That’s not “buy the whole company” money, but it is the kind of insider move investors watch like hawks with a caffeine problem.
Why this matters
Insider buys don’t guarantee a rebound, but they do tend to send a pretty clear message: the person closest to the business thinks the market may be overreacting. That’s especially interesting here because XZO shares have fallen 33% year-to-date and are sitting well below their 52-week high of $24.60.
The little wrinkle
Patel also holds options for 5 million shares exercisable at $23 apiece, which were granted back in 2021 and vest over time. So this isn’t a mystery cameo from a random director; it’s the CEO showing up with skin in the game while the stock is in the bargain bin.
Big picture
The move won’t magically fix fundamentals, but in a market that loves body language, insider buying can be the financial version of “I’m not worried.” Sometimes that’s just optics. Sometimes it’s the first clue that the bottom is getting curious.
