Goodbye, retyping card numbers
Visa and payabl. just rolled out Click to Pay, a checkout experience that swaps the ancient ritual of typing in card numbers for a faster, token-based flow. Once a shopper’s card is enrolled, they can buy stuff in a few clicks instead of playing “find the wallet and squint at the digits.”
Why merchants should care
The pitch is pretty simple: less friction at checkout, fewer abandoned carts, and better authorization rates. In ecommerce, tiny annoyances can kill a sale faster than a pop-up asking if you want newsletter updates.
Why Visa investors care
This isn’t some flashy headline with a giant dollar tag, but it does fit Visa’s long-running mission: make card payments easier, safer, and more sticky. If merchants see higher conversion and lower fraud, that gives Visa another reason to stay deeply embedded in online commerce.
Big picture: the company keeps trying to make payments feel invisible, which is exactly what you want from a network that makes money when transactions keep flowing.
