Another round of musical chairs
AES said on April 14 and 15 that it’s changing up several leadership roles, with moves that hit accounting and renewables leadership. Bernerd Da Santos is stepping down as EVP and president of U.S. & Renewables, then sliding into a new gig as chairman of the AES Clean Energy Board and senior strategic advisor.
Accounting gets a new quarterback
On the finance side, Sherry Kohan is leaving her current job as senior VP and chief accounting officer on May 7, but she’s not exactly walking out the door. She’ll become CFO of AES’s U.S. Utilities business on the same day. The company also promoted Aubrey Jarred to vice president and controller, making her the principal accounting officer.
Why investors should care
Leadership changes can be routine, but they also matter when a company is already in the middle of a messy transition. AES is juggling an acquisition agreement, debt-related housekeeping, and operational changes, so even “small” exec moves can feel a lot less small.
The bigger picture
If you’re an AES shareholder, this reads like a company trying to tidy the house while the furniture is still being moved. The key question is whether these changes make the organization sharper — or just add more churn at an already chaotic moment. Big picture: the stock may care less about titles and more about whether execution stays on track.
