Court says: not so fast
Rocket Lab USA and two top executives just dodged a proposed securities class action tied to the company’s reusable Neutron rocket. The lawsuit claimed the company misled investors about how quickly Neutron testing and debut would happen, but Judge George H. Wu wasn’t buying it.
The judge wasn’t feeling the vibe
The court finalized an earlier tentative ruling and tossed the case with prejudice on Thursday, which means the plaintiffs don’t get a do-over in this court. That’s a pretty clean win for Rocket Lab, especially since the judge reportedly said the fraud theory “simply does not make much sense.”
Why you should care
For investors, this is mostly about removing one more cloud hanging over a company that already lives in the high-drama, high-expectation world of space stocks. Less legal uncertainty is good news, even if it doesn’t launch a rocket or book a new contract.
Big picture
Rocket Lab still has to execute on Neutron, but for now it gets to focus on the actual hard part of the business instead of spending energy in court. In space investing, that’s basically the difference between rocket fuel and dead weight.
