Europe called, and Hims picked up
Hims & Hers is buying Zava, a European digital health player, to plant a flag across the pond. Instead of trying to win Europe one country at a time like some kind of startup pioneer with a very expensive backpack, Hims is grabbing a business that already knows the terrain.
Why this matters
For Hims investors, this is the kind of move that says: "We’re not just a U.S. telehealth story anymore." Europe can be a much bigger growth runway if Hims can localize its playbook, navigate regulations, and avoid tripping over the usual cross-border headaches.
The deal also hints at a familiar strategy: buy distribution, accelerate scale, and skip the slow grind of building from zero. That can be smart — assuming integration doesn’t turn into the corporate version of moving apartments with no boxes.
The big picture
Hims has been trying to level up from flashy consumer health brand to something much more global and durable. Zava gives it a beachhead, and maybe eventually a second engine.
Big picture: if Hims can translate its subscription-health hustle into Europe, this could be less of a one-off tuck-in and more of a roadmap for where the company goes next.
