New deal, same old money machine
Bombardier isn’t just selling fancy flying machines here — it’s also selling the aftercare. On Monday, the company announced a long-term services agreement with Vista that centers on Bombardier’s Smart Parts programs.
Why this matters
The agreement covers Vista’s recent order of Challenger 3500 aircraft plus a meaningful chunk of its current fleet. Translation: Bombardier gets a deeper relationship, not just a one-and-done sale. That’s the aviation equivalent of getting the customer to sign up for the subscription, the accessories, and the premium support tier.
Investors should care because…
Services deals tend to be steadier than aircraft orders, which can be lumpy and moodier than a toddler skipping nap time. If Bombardier keeps stacking these kinds of contracts, it helps smooth revenue and makes the business look a little more durable.
Big picture
This is less about a headline-grabbing plane delivery and more about Bombardier locking in recurring cash flow around its installed base. In other words: the jet is the hook, but the services agreement is the long game.
