BET says: one more thing for the pipeline
Paramount’s BET has greenlit Lot Patrol, a mockumentary comedy series from Manny Halley Productions. That means the show is officially moving from “cool idea” territory into the expensive, chaotic world of actual production.
Why you should care
This isn’t a needle-mover by itself — nobody’s buying PSKY because of one comedy series. But it does matter because content studios live and die by whether they can keep fresh shows coming. No new programming, no audience; no audience, and the cable brands start feeling like that streaming app you forgot to delete.
The bigger picture
BET’s willingness to back a new series suggests Paramount is still using its cable and TV assets to refill the shelves, even as the whole industry gets squeezed by streaming competition and tighter ad dollars. If Lot Patrol lands, it’s another reminder that the network can still create culturally relevant programming without needing a superhero budget.
Big picture: tiny headline, modest financial impact — but another small brick in the wall for Paramount’s content machine.
