Hockey, but make it smart
Honeywell and the NHL just announced a new global partnership, and no, this isn’t about better slap shots. Honeywell will be the league’s Official Building Automation and Energy Management Partner, which means its tech will help modernize arenas, practice facilities, and community rinks across North America.
Why this matters
If you own HON, this is the kind of deal that doesn’t sound flashy but can quietly matter. Sports venues are giant energy hogs, and operators are under constant pressure to make them more efficient, more resilient, and less expensive to run. That’s Honeywell’s sweet spot.
And because this is a multi-year global partnership, it gives Honeywell another branded foothold in a niche where one deal can turn into a bunch of follow-on projects. Today it’s the NHL. Tomorrow it’s every venue manager with a utility bill and a mild panic attack.
The bigger picture
This isn’t going to move the stock like a blockbuster earnings beat, but it does reinforce Honeywell’s pitch that its software-and-controls brain is worth more than just the sum of its industrial parts.
Big picture: sometimes the smartest growth stories start with something as boring as better thermostats.
