GoPro’s going full travel agent
GoPro just teamed up with Dive with Buddy, Inc. to launch GoPro Escapes, a new booking platform for creator-led group dive travel experiences. If that sounds a little less “action camera” and a little more “your adventurous friend’s vacation spreadsheet,” you’re not wrong.
Why this matters
This isn’t some random side quest. GoPro has been trying to stretch beyond selling cameras into a broader creator-and-lifestyle brand. A travel booking platform gives it another way to keep users inside the GoPro universe — and maybe squeeze a little more revenue out of the people already living on the edge.
The investor takeaway
For shareholders, the question is whether this is a cute marketing add-on or a real business line with legs. On one hand, travel bookings can deepen the brand and create new monetization paths. On the other hand, it’s still early, and launching a booking platform is not the same thing as building a durable growth engine.
Big picture: GoPro keeps looking for ways to be more than a gadget company. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it’s just a shiny new tab on the website.
