Gorilla’s AI infrastructure plot thickens
Gorilla Technology says it’s locked in an initial 5.5MW of data-centre capacity with NeutraDC, with the setup expected to scale to about 18MW by November 2026. Translation: the company is trying to make sure it has enough power and rack space to actually deliver on all that AI ambition instead of just talking a big game on earnings calls.
Why this matters
This isn’t just about renting a fancy room full of blinking lights. Gorilla says the capacity will support expanding AI compute and enterprise workloads across Asia, and it’s aiming for a much bigger regional footprint — somewhere in the 150MW to 200MW range over the next year. That’s a serious amount of electricity, and in the AI race, electricity is basically the new gold.
The investor angle
Management is also dangling a big number: a forecasted US$2 billion over five years at full utilization. Of course, that’s a “if everything goes right and the stars align” figure, but it gives you a sense of the upside Gorilla is chasing.
Big picture
For GRRR, this is a classic infrastructure-at-the-speed-of-demand story: if AI deployment in Asia keeps accelerating, the companies that can secure power and capacity early may get first crack at the boom. If not, they’re stuck outside the club, refreshing the waitlist like everyone else.
