Snowflake’s marketplace just got a new tenant
Redpoint Global is launching Identity Studio as a Snowflake Native Application, which is a fancy way of saying it’s moving the identity-resolution party inside the Snowflake house instead of making customers drag data around to some other tool.
That matters because identity matching is one of those unsexy backend chores that makes everything else work better. If a company can trust that “J. Smith,” “John Smith,” and “Johnny S.” are actually the same customer, suddenly analytics, personalization, and AI workflows stop looking like a game of spreadsheet whack-a-mole.
Why investors should care
Snowflake has been leaning hard into the idea that its ecosystem is more than storage and compute. Marketplace launches like this make the platform feel stickier — and stickier software tends to be the kind that customers keep paying for instead of flirting with alternatives.
It also plays nicely with the current AI narrative. The AI hype train is great, but garbage-in-garbage-out is still a thing, and cleaned-up identity data is the boring plumbing that helps keep the whole contraption from leaking.
The bigger picture
This isn’t a blockbuster deal that rewires the business overnight. But it does reinforce the Snowflake strategy: become the trusted data operating layer where third-party apps can live, work, and monetize without customers leaving the platform.
Big picture: in software, the happiest companies are often the ones that make themselves impossible to replace. Snowflake keeps adding little bolts to that machine.
