Another handshake for the AI pile
Snowflake’s not exactly being subtle here: it wants to be the plumbing layer for enterprise AI, and now Cotality is joining its OSI Financial Services Working Group. The goal is to kill data friction and standardize datasets so AI agents can work with less of the usual “why is this spreadsheet cursed?” energy.
Why this matters
For Snowflake, this is less about one flashy product reveal and more about ecosystem gravity. If the company keeps getting financial-services names to show up at the same table, that strengthens the case that Snowflake is becoming a default hub for AI-ready data work.
Investors tend to like this kind of thing because it can snowball:
- more partners can mean more platform usage
- more standards can make Snowflake stickier inside enterprise workflows
- stickier workflows usually mean fewer easy exits for customers
The vibe check
No, this isn’t the kind of announcement that sends a company into orbit by itself. But in cloud land, the boring stuff is often the expensive stuff. Standards, interoperability, and “data friction” are basically the stuff that decides whether customers stay loyal or start shopping around.
Big picture: Snowflake keeps trying to make itself look less like a database vendor and more like the operating system for enterprise AI. That’s a much bigger moat if it works.
