Another app for the Snowflake pile
Semarchy announced a new Snowflake Connected App for its data platform at Snowflake Summit 26, and the whole thing is designed to live inside Snowflake Marketplace. Translation: fewer procurement headaches, more “just use the thing we already buy from Snowflake” energy.
Why this matters
This isn’t some random ribbon-cutting. Semarchy’s app is aimed at governed data products and enterprise AI, which is basically the corporate version of keeping your kitchen organized before inviting ChatGPT over for dinner. The app also lets customers use Snowflake Marketplace Capacity Drawdown credits, which makes adoption a little easier on the budget and a little friendlier to the sales pitch.
The investor angle
For Snowflake, every new connected app is another reminder that it’s trying to be more than a warehouse with a nice logo. It’s building a marketplace ecosystem where partners, tools, and workloads all orbit the same gravity well. That can make customers stick around longer, spend more, and generally think twice before wandering off to a rival cloud party.
Big picture
Snowflake doesn’t need every partnership to be a blockbuster to win. It just needs enough of these small ecosystem wins to make leaving feel annoying, expensive, and slightly embarrassing.
