Snowflake is trying to be the single source of truth
Snowflake just announced an integration with AtScale that pushes governed Snowflake metrics into Power BI and Excel. Translation: instead of five teams building five versions of the same KPI and then arguing like it’s a family group chat, everyone can work from the same metric definitions.
That sounds nerdy, sure. But it matters because data governance is one of those boring phrases that can quietly become a moat. If Snowflake can make itself the place where companies define, manage, and reuse trusted metrics, it gets stickier — and stickier usually means nicer retention numbers.
Why investors should care
This isn’t a giant revenue bombshell, but it does fit the bigger Snowflake story:
- more ways to keep enterprise users inside the ecosystem
- more relevance in BI tools people already live in all day
- more ammo for the pitch that Snowflake is not just a warehouse, but a decision layer
And yes, the AI angle is lurking in the background too. If your data is cleaner and more governed, your fancy copilots and dashboards are less likely to hallucinate themselves into a spreadsheet disaster.
Big picture
For Snowflake bulls, this is another tiny brick in the wall: less about one flashy product launch, more about becoming the plumbing under modern analytics. Not sexy. Very valuable. Usually the best combo on Wall Street.
