Another AI check gets written
Broadcom is apparently not content with being one of the biggest names in chips — it wants a front-row seat at the AI infrastructure buffet too. The company is tying up with Anthropic in a new move that supports a $35 billion capacity expansion, with Apollo and Blackstone helping back the deal.
That’s a fancy way of saying: the AI build-out is still very much in “throw more money at it” mode. And Broadcom, which has become one of the market’s favorite AI beneficiaries, is once again attached to a customer-led expansion that could keep its networking and custom-chip story looking pretty juicy.
Why you should care
For investors, the big question is whether the AI capex boom is just a hype cycle or a long runway. Deals like this lean hard toward runway. If Anthropic keeps scaling, Broadcom has another reason to stay embedded in the plumbing that powers these models.
Big picture
The AI trade has been through enough mood swings to qualify as a teen sitcom, but Broadcom keeps landing on its feet. More capacity, more partners, more spending — and more reasons for AVGO bulls to keep squinting at the future like it’s already pre-ordered.
