NuScale Power is keeping the construction tape measure out, but this time the work is on paper, not steel. The company awarded Paragon a contract to complete final design development of Paragon’s Highly Integrated Protection System for the NuScale Power Module.
For a nuclear company, that kind of boring-sounding engineering work is actually the point. A small modular reactor doesn’t become a real business because someone drew a cool diagram — it becomes a real business when the control and safety systems are locked down enough to clear the next hurdles.
Why investors should care
This doesn’t scream blockbuster revenue on its own, but it does tell you NuScale is still advancing the technical stack around its reactor design. In SMR land, every incremental design milestone matters because the whole story hinges on credibility, timelines, and whether the thing can actually be built, licensed, and deployed without turning into a very expensive science project.
