Another one for the Square playbook
Block’s Square unit announced that Sofive Soccer Centers has picked it as the company’s unified commerce platform. Sofive runs 22 centers across 12 cities and 10 states, so this isn’t a mom-and-pop pizza shop handshake — it’s a fairly chunky multi-location win.
Why this matters
Square is trying to be the Swiss Army knife of commerce: payments, concessions, events, loyalty, and whatever else a business throws at it. The more venues and operators it lands, the more it strengthens that pitch that you can run the whole checkout circus from one system instead of duct-taping together five different vendors.
The investor angle
For Block, the headline isn’t just “new customer.” It’s that Square keeps showing up in more verticals where transactions are frequent, recurring, and a little chaotic — exactly the kind of places where integrated software can stick.
Big picture: small wins like this don’t move the stock alone, but they do help tell the story Block wants Wall Street to believe — that Square isn’t just a payments button, it’s a commerce platform with room to spread.
