Hollywood meets the algorithm
Google DeepMind is linking up with A24, the indie studio behind plenty of cult-favorite films, to explore how AI might support filmmakers and creative professionals. Translation: the robots aren’t getting the director’s chair just yet, but they are getting invited to the writers’ room.
Why investors should care
For Alphabet, this is less about one movie deal and more about proving DeepMind can plug into high-value, high-visibility industries. If AI tools become useful in creative production — think brainstorming, pre-production, editing, or workflow automation — that’s another place Google can pitch its AI stack beyond search and cloud.
The bigger play
This kind of partnership also helps Google build cultural credibility. Hollywood tends to be skeptical of AI for obvious reasons, so a collaboration framed around helping creatives rather than replacing them is the friendlier PR route.
Big picture: Alphabet keeps trying to show that DeepMind isn’t just a science project — it’s a business with tentacles, and now one of them reaches into Hollywood.
