aApplied Digital isn’t just talking about an AI factory anymore — it’s lining up the electricity to actually run one. The company said Montana-Dakota Utilities, a subsidiary of MDU Resources, signed an electric service agreement to supply Polaris Forge 3, a proposed AI factory near Center, North Dakota.
Why this matters
Data centers and AI factories are basically giant electricity eaters with servers attached. So when a company secures utility support, it’s a small but meaningful proof point that the project is moving from slide deck territory into something more tangible.
