Another trip to the launchpad
AST SpaceMobile is back with more rocket fuel for its bull case: BlueBird satellites 11, 12 and 13 are targeted to lift off from Cape Canaveral in the first half of August. That’s the company’s next batch of next-gen birds headed for low Earth orbit, where the whole “connect your phone directly from space” pitch either starts to look real or stays stuck in sci-fi land.
Why this matters
For ASTS, launches are the whole game. Each successful deployment chips away at the biggest question hanging over the stock: can the company actually build out a working, scalable space-based cellular network without tripping over the usual space-industry banana peels?
A few investor takeaways:
- More satellites in orbit means more coverage potential and more proof the buildout is advancing.
- A named launch window can help reduce some of the mystery around the rollout timeline.
- But the stock still lives and dies by execution — one launch is nice, a functioning network is the actual prize.
Big picture
This is another incremental win, not a moon landing. Still, ASTS investors tend to treat every launch like a vote of confidence, because in this business the runway is basically the product.
