Crypto, but make it normal
Visa just helped MiniPay turn stablecoin balances into something your average shopper can actually use: a debit card. The new MiniPay Card works across merchants in 46 countries and leans on Gnosis Pay’s infrastructure, so users don’t need to do the usual crypto acrobatics at the point of sale.
Why Visa cares
This is classic Visa behavior: if money is going to move, Visa wants a hand on the steering wheel. Stablecoins are still a niche for many consumers, but the company keeps showing up where the next payment rail might be born, not just where it’s already mature.
The investor angle
For V, the story isn’t that this single card launch suddenly changes the earnings model. It’s that Visa keeps plugging itself into new spending channels, especially in emerging markets where a bridge between wallets and everyday purchases can actually matter.
- MiniPay says the card links its millions of wallets to global merchants
- The card is built on Gnosis Pay’s rails
- Visa gets another shot at being the default layer for “new money, old checkout”
Big picture: if stablecoins keep creeping from niche experiment to actual spending tool, Visa wants to be the company collecting the fee when that money leaves the app and enters the real world.
