Amazon-owned Zoox is taking another step toward being a real business instead of a very expensive moonshot with wheels. The company says its new robotaxi is being redesigned for large-scale production, and it expects riders to start using it later this year.
Why this matters
This is the kind of update that sounds boring until you remember how hard it is to turn a futuristic prototype into something you can build, ship, and maintain without the whole thing turning into a money pit.
If Zoox can actually scale production, that means:

- more credible commercialization
