Firefly Aerospace said it’s acquiring Space-ng Inc., a company that builds AI-powered vision navigation and autonomous guidance systems. Translation: Firefly wants its spacecraft to see better, think faster, and generally stop acting like they’re winging it in the void.
Why this matters
The deal gives Firefly proven spacecraft software and camera hardware it can plug into its Blue Ghost landers and Elytra orbital vehicles. That could make the company more competitive as it pushes deeper into lunar and planetary missions, where autonomy isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s the whole game.
