New boss, same gold stash
ASA Gold and Precious Metals Limited is doing a little boardroom chair shuffle. The closed-end fund said Paul Kazarian is now its President and Principal Executive Officer, while Axel Merk and Peter Maletis no longer serve as officers.
Why this matters
This isn’t just corporate musical chairs for fun. When a fund changes its top leadership, it can signal a change in style, risk appetite, or the people deciding how the portfolio gets steered. That matters even more here because the company says it’s setting up an investment committee to manage the portfolio internally on an interim basis.
The bigger read
That interim setup suggests the Special Committee is still reviewing something behind the curtain, and the company wants the portfolio managed in-house while that work continues. In other words: the investment engine is staying on, but the steering wheel just changed hands.
Big picture: leadership transitions at investment firms can be boring on paper and very not-boring in practice. If you own ASA, you’ll want to watch whether this is just a temporary bridge or the start of a more permanent overhaul.
