Another one bites the headset
Apple’s Vision Pro team just lost a key leader. Paul Meade, the vice president in charge of the headset, is reportedly headed to OpenAI’s hardware squad, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
That’s not exactly the kind of news you want when you’re trying to convince the market your spatial-computing headset is the next big thing. Leadership exits don’t automatically torpedo a product line, but they can slow momentum, scramble priorities, and make everyone wonder who’s steering the ship.
The talent wars are getting weird
This is also a reminder that the AI hardware race is now a full-on talent draft. OpenAI isn’t just chasing models and chips anymore — it’s building a hardware bench, and apparently it’s comfortable shopping in Cupertino’s aisle.
For Apple, the optics are a little annoying. Vision Pro is already a niche, pricey bet, and losing a senior executive can make that bet look even more fragile. If you own AAPL, you’re not panicking over one departure. But if you’ve been watching for signs that Apple’s next big platform shift is getting traction, this is one more speed bump.
