New finance chief, incoming
ASM International’s supervisory board wants Chris Figee to become the company’s next chief financial officer and join the management board. He’s slated to start on December 1, 2026 as Executive Vice President, which means the company is clearly planning ahead instead of doing the classic “who can we get on a Friday afternoon?” scramble.
Why you should care
A CFO change isn’t always flashy, but it can matter a lot more than it sounds. The CFO is the adult in the room for capital spending, margins, guidance discipline, and the sort of investor messaging that can either calm Wall Street or send it into interpretive dance.
The setup
According to the announcement, Figee will leave KPN on November 1, 2026 before moving over to ASM a month later. That gives the company a clean handoff window, which is usually a good sign if you like your transitions with fewer plot twists.
Big picture
If ASM can bring in a finance leader with a fresh playbook and a steady hand, investors may view this as a governance-plus execution story rather than just a personnel swap. Big picture: sometimes the most important market moves start with who’s holding the calculator.
