A little more silicon, a little less slog
Alphabet and Intel just decided their long-running partnership wasn’t caffeinated enough. On Thursday, the two companies expanded their deal so Intel can use Google Cloud and Gemini Enterprise across more of its business — from coding and engineering automation to marketing and internal content work.
Why this matters
The sexy part here isn’t just employees making prettier slides. Intel is also using the AI tools to help speed up semiconductor development, which is the corporate equivalent of saying, “Can we get this train out of the station before the next product cycle becomes the next fossil record?” More AI workloads usually mean more cloud consumption, and more cloud consumption is exactly the sort of thing Alphabet likes to see.
The chipmaker angle
Intel will also expand its use of Google Cloud’s C4 and N4 instances to supplement its own computing capacity. That means more horsepower for semiconductor simulations, which could help engineering teams test more ideas at once and shave time off chip development timelines.

For Intel, it’s a signal that the company wants every shortcut it can get in the race to modernize its chip pipeline.
