
The fancy machine is actually doing work
Intel fans have been waiting for proof that the company’s manufacturing comeback is more than a PowerPoint deck with optimism issues. ASML just handed them a nice little update: Intel is using its high-NA EUV machines to mass-produce Panther Lake client CPUs.
That matters because high-NA EUV is the top-shelf stuff in chipmaking. Think of it like giving a home baker a spaceship oven instead of a toaster. If Intel can use that gear to produce real, shippable chips, it’s a sign the company’s process technology is moving from “trust us” to “here’s the silicon.”
Why investors care
Panther Lake is part of Intel’s plan to rebuild credibility in client CPUs and, more importantly, show it can compete with the best in the foundry race. Every manufacturing win chips away at the narrative that Intel is permanently playing catch-up.
For investors, the key questions are simple:
- Can Intel ramp output without a drama-filled yield headache?
- Does this translate into better products and better margins?
- And can the company keep up the pace long enough for the turnaround story to become, you know, a story instead of a hope?
The bigger picture
ASML is the supplier here, but Intel is the one trying to prove it can execute. AMD gets mentioned because it lives rent-free in Intel’s competitive storyline, but this news is really about Intel’s manufacturing progress.
