Another big order rolls in
Boeing can still count on one thing: somebody, somewhere, is always shopping for more 737s. This time it’s SMBC Aviation Capital, which placed an order for 100 737 MAX jets — 60 737-10s and 40 737-8s.
Why investors should care
For Boeing, this isn’t just a shiny headline. Big aircraft orders help pad the backlog, keep the production pipeline looking healthier, and give investors another reason to believe the 737 MAX family still has runway.
The extra interesting bit? This is SMBC Aviation Capital’s first-ever order for the 737-10, the highest-capacity version of the MAX family. In plain English: the lessor is betting there’s enough demand for bigger narrowbody planes to make the buy worthwhile.
The bigger picture
Boeing has been trying to keep its commercial airplane business moving without tripping over supply-chain gremlins or manufacturing drama. A 100-jet order doesn’t solve everything, but it does add a nice brick to the wall.
Big picture: when the order book is still getting stuffed, Boeing’s turnaround story has one less thing to worry about.
