JetBlue says it has secured Spirit Airlines’ operating slots at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, which is basically airline poker for more takeoff and landing opportunities in a very cramped, very valuable market. The prize? Rights to 12 daily round-trip flights through Spirit’s bankruptcy process.

If you’re JetBlue, LaGuardia isn’t just another airport — it’s a premium piece of real estate with planes. More slots can mean:
