Washington finally speaks crypto
Coinbase traders got a little adrenaline shot after Scott Bessent signaled the CLARITY Act is on the Senate’s “one-yard line.” Translation: the crypto industry just heard a lot less fog and a lot more possibility.
Why COIN cares so much
For Coinbase, policy isn’t background noise — it’s the whole soundtrack. Clearer crypto rules could make the exchange’s business look a lot less like a legal obstacle course and a lot more like a normal financial market.
That matters because investors tend to reward two things at once:
- less regulatory guesswork
- more confidence that crypto activity can scale without getting smacked by Washington
And when the big crypto bellwether starts moving, the whole sector usually catches a draft. XRP leading the majors is the market’s way of saying, “We’ll believe it when we see it, but we’re definitely squinting at the finish line.”
Big picture
This is still a policy headline, not a signed law. But crypto names live and die by vibes as much as fundamentals sometimes, and today’s vibe was: maybe Washington isn’t trying to tackle the whole industry at the 5-yard line for once.
