Europe isn’t just a side quest anymore
USA Rare Earth is turning its long-game Europe plan into something a lot more concrete. The company said it signed definitive agreements to take strategic minority stakes of about 13.6% each in Carester SAS, a French rare earth processing and separation player, formalizing a framework first announced back in April.
Why this matters
If you’re playing the rare earths story, the boring parts are actually the important parts. Processing, separation, feedstock, offtake — that’s the plumbing that turns “critical minerals hype” into an actual business. This deal helps USA Rare Earth strengthen its midstream platform in Europe while linking its broader industrial ecosystem in Lacq, France.
The practical upside
The company says the arrangement gives LCM Europe and USA Rare Earth access to Carester’s rare earth oxides, while Carester gets access to USA Rare Earth feedstock from Serra Verde and Round Top. In other words: a two-way supply-and-processing handshake, not just a pretty logo on a press release.
Carester’s Caremag facility is also slated to begin operations in Q4 2026, which gives the whole setup a more tangible timeline instead of the usual “strategic partnership” fog machine.
Big picture: for investors, this is less about a flashy headline and more about USA Rare Earth quietly building the infrastructure to be more than a one-asset story.
