Korea’s AI factory just got a lot bigger
Brookfield, NVIDIA and NAVER said they plan to expand Korea’s sovereign AI factory infrastructure, with the initial NVIDIA DSX deployment set to grow from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts. That’s not a tweak — that’s a full-on gear shift.
For context, AI infrastructure is the unglamorous part of the AI gold rush. Everyone loves the chatbot demo; fewer people get excited about the megawatts, cooling systems and data-center real estate needed to keep the thing alive. But that’s exactly where the money is flowing.
Why investors should care
This kind of announcement matters because it suggests the AI buildout story is still widening geographically. Korea isn’t just buying chips; it’s trying to build a domestic AI backbone, and Brookfield is helping supply the capital-heavy plumbing.
- Brookfield gets to play landlord-financier in a high-growth theme
- NVIDIA keeps extending its ecosystem beyond silicon into infrastructure
- NAVER gets a bigger runway for its AI ambitions at home
The bigger picture
If AI was the party, we’ve moved from the “who brought the snacks?” stage to “who’s paying the electric bill?” stage. And right now, the electric bill is getting very large, very fast. Big picture: the AI trade is still expanding from chips into the physical infrastructure that makes those chips useful.
