A partnership with a purpose
OpenTable, the restaurant-reservation arm under Booking Holdings, is deepening its work with Heineken USA on the “There’s No Such Thing As Fine to Drive” program. The pitch is pretty simple: make it easier for diners to choose a designated driver, then reward the folks who play it safe.
Why BKNG should care
This isn’t a giant revenue bombshell, but it is the kind of everyday product partnership that keeps OpenTable woven into the dining experience instead of feeling like a one-trick booking widget. If the promotion gets traction, it can boost engagement, help restaurants with traffic, and give Booking’s consumer brand a little extra goodwill.
The bigger picture
For BKNG, the interesting part is less about beer and more about habit. The more OpenTable becomes part of the restaurant ritual — reservations, promotions, loyalty-ish perks, the whole thing — the harder it is for diners and restaurants to shrug it off.
Big picture: sometimes the moat is just being useful at the exact moment people are deciding where to eat and how to get home.
