Another shot at relevance
Co-Diagnostics is back with a headline that sounds part biotech, part global-health thriller: it says it completed a proof-of-concept trial for an extraction-free Ebola diagnostic built on its Co-Primers technology.
Why this matters
The test was run on the company’s Co-Dx PCR Pro instrument using diluted plasma samples, and management is calling it the first blood-borne assay designed specifically for that point-of-care platform. Translation: this is the kind of milestone that can help a diagnostics company look less like a science experiment and more like a platform with actual use cases.
The India angle
This comes alongside work by CoSara Diagnostics, the company’s Indian joint venture, which shipped evaluation kits of its SARAGENE Bundibugyo Virus Test at the request of C-CAMP, an initiative backed by India’s Department of Biotechnology. The company says ongoing studies are now checking the usual lab gatekeepers — limit of detection, repeatability, and reproducibility.
Big picture
Co-Diagnostics is clearly trying to prove it can build tools for outbreak response, not just chase buzzwords. Investors will care because every technical milestone raises the odds of future partnerships, commercial traction, or regulatory progress — and in small-cap diagnostics, that’s basically the whole game.
