New dirt, bigger dreams
Galaxy Digital says it acquired roughly 500 acres in McGregor, Texas, to build an AI and high-performance computing data center campus. That’s not exactly a cute little office park expansion — the initial phase is expected to hit 74 MW and could eventually scale into a multi-hundred-megawatt campus.
Why investors should care
This is Galaxy leaning harder into its multi-campus strategy, which is basically Wall Street shorthand for: “We want more than one giant bet and we want optionality.” The company is calling the project privately funded, so it’s not handing the local tax base a surprise bill, and it expects the site to create jobs while adding to the local economy.
Not just about Texas
The campus becomes Galaxy’s second major data center investment in Texas, alongside its 1.6-gigawatt Helios site in West Texas. If AI demand keeps acting like it’s mainlining espresso, Galaxy’s pitch is that it has land, power, and expansion runway — the stuff you need when everyone suddenly wants more compute yesterday.
Big picture: this is Galaxy trying to cash in on the AI infrastructure gold rush, one megawatt at a time.
