Record quarter, meet your nerdy best friend
NWPX Infrastructure came out swinging in its second quarter 2026 results. Net sales hit a record $159.5 million, up 19.7% from a year ago, while gross profit jumped 35.5% to a record $34.4 million. Translation: the company didn’t just sell more stuff — it sold it more profitably, which is the kind of combo investors love to see.
The business is doing a two-step
The star of the show was the Water Transmission Systems segment. That unit posted record net sales of $113.2 million, up 33.8% year over year, and gross profit of $24.2 million, up 60.9%. That’s the kind of growth that makes you sit up and check whether the coffee kicked in.
Precast Infrastructure and Engineered Systems, meanwhile, was a little less flashy. Sales there fell 4.8% year over year to $46.3 million, and gross profit dipped 1.7% to $10.1 million. Not ideal, but it didn’t stop the overall quarter from looking strong.
Why investors should care
Net income came in at a record $15.8 million, or $1.62 per diluted share, which is the kind of line item that tends to get attention fast. The company also ended the quarter with a hefty backlog and order book:
- WTS backlog: $305 million
- WTS backlog including confirmed orders: $423 million
- Precast order book: $61 million
Big picture: if you’re looking for a company tied to infrastructure spending that’s actually turning that theme into results, NWPX just made a pretty convincing pitch.
