The bikes are finally rolling
Also, the e-bike startup that grew out of Rivian, says it’s beginning to ship its first $4,500 TM-B Launch Edition bikes next week. That’s a relief for anyone who preordered one and spent the spring staring at their inbox like it owed them money.
From “coming soon” to “shipping now”
The company originally aimed for a spring launch, but that timeline got kicked down the road thanks to what it called a global spike in demand for raw materials and electronic components. In plain English: the supply chain did what the supply chain does best — turned a product launch into a patience test.
Some customers have already tapped out. Reddit was full of frustrated posts Friday from people saying they canceled reservations after repeated postponements and spotty communication. Not exactly the kind of fanfare you want when you’re trying to sell premium e-bikes.
Why Rivian investors should care
This isn’t a make-or-break event for Rivian’s core EV business, but it does matter for a few reasons:
- Also started as an internal Rivian project before spinning out in March 2025
- It’s been backed by serious money, which means delays can get expensive fast
- The company is also supposed to build delivery vehicles for Amazon and DoorDash, so execution here could spill over into those bigger ambitions
Big picture: the bikes are moving, but after all the delays, Also now has to prove it can do more than tease a shiny product. Investors usually forgive a late launch a lot faster than they forgive a trust issue.
