Aehr Test Systems just got a follow-on production order for its FOX-XP system from its lead silicon photonics customer, and the market immediately treated it like a sequel worth watching. Why this matters
The customer will use the automated multi-wafer burn-in system to expand silicon photonic integrated circuit production — the stuff that powers optical transceivers and chip-to-chip optical I/O. In other words, this is the plumbing behind the AI boom, not the shiny chatbot on top.
Aehr says the system includes:
- nine WaferPak test blades
- up to 3,500 watts per blade
- automated alignment, handling, loading, and unloading
That matters because wafer-level burn-in helps catch defects before packaging, improve yields, cut costs, and boost reliability. Translation: it helps manufacturers make more chips without turning their balance sheet into a crime scene.
