SpaceX picked a side
Elon Musk used SpaceX’s first public-company earnings call to do what billionaires do when they really like a product: he basically gave Nvidia a public pep talk. SpaceX will build “exclusively” on Nvidia, Musk said, calling the Vera Rubin architecture the best AI computer out there.
Why investors care
This isn’t just flattery. It signals another heavyweight customer leaning deeper into Nvidia’s ecosystem, which is exactly the kind of thing that keeps the AI money machine humming.
- SpaceX says it wants to end the year with more than two gigawatts of compute
- Musk thinks that figure could be several times higher by the end of 2027
- He also said SpaceX plans to launch Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 system starting next year
The market did the obvious thing
Nvidia shares jumped in after-hours trading, because the Street tends to smile when a marquee customer says your chips are the default setting for the future. It’s part product endorsement, part demand signal, and part reminder that Nvidia is still the front door to the AI gold rush.
Big picture: when SpaceX — a company allergic to boring decisions — says it wants to go all-in on Nvidia, that’s not background noise. That’s a giant neon sign for demand.
