Sandisk and SK hynix are putting out an HBF spec, which is basically industry-speak for: “let’s try to make the AI memory stack a little less chaotic.” If the AI boom is the nightclub, memory is the bouncer, the bartender, and half the plumbing.

For Sandisk, this isn’t just a press-release lap around the track. Standards matter because they can help define what customers build around next. And in memory, being early to a standard can be a nice way to get your foot in the door before everyone else starts shouting about bandwidth, capacity, and power efficiency.
