A not-so-small piece of the nuclear puzzle
NuScale Power is back in the headlines, this time with a collaboration that sounds a little more lab-coat than stock-promo. Curio and Framatome are joining the effort to support a fuel solution for advanced reactors, which is the kind of plumbing-level progress that can matter a lot in the nuclear world.
Why should you care? Because for advanced reactors, the reactor itself is only half the battle. If you can’t line up the fuel supply chain, the whole futuristic energy vision starts looking like a very expensive science fair project.
Why this matters for SMR
For NuScale, partnerships like this are part of the long slog toward commercialization. Investors aren’t just betting on a cool design anymore — they’re betting on whether the company can assemble the ecosystem around it:
- fuel availability
- regulatory confidence
- supply chain readiness
- commercial scalability
That’s a lot of moving pieces, and nuclear projects love paperwork the way toddlers love naps: absolutely essential, deeply complicated.
Big picture
This isn’t revenue in the bank or a reactor firing on all cylinders. But it is the kind of ecosystem-building update that can slowly de-risk the NuScale story. In other words: not the finish line, but at least one more mile marker on the road there.
