Quantum finally has a quarterly pulse
Rigetti Computing’s second-quarter 2026 results gave investors a fresh excuse to obsess over the quantum computing trade. Revenue came in around $5.1 million, up from $1.8 million a year earlier, which is the kind of year-over-year jump that sounds great until you remember this is still a tiny revenue base and a very hype-heavy stock.
Why investors care
For quantum names, revenue growth is nice, but credibility is the real currency. If the company is showing it can recognize more revenue, even from previously signed work, that helps the story that this isn’t just a science project with a Nasdaq ticker.
The market’s not exactly relaxed
Quantum stocks have been under pressure, so every earnings print now has the vibe of a lab demo in front of a skeptical VC. If Rigetti can keep stacking operational progress, bulls get ammo. If not, the sector’s sell-off starts looking less like a tantrum and more like a warning label.
Big picture
You don’t buy quantum names for the current revenue. You buy them for the someday fantasy. But the farther away that someday feels, the less forgiving the market gets — and that’s why this earnings call matters.
